The Zulu War
Marlborough Military Models have created a set of toy soldiers depicting
events during the 1879 Anglo-Zulu War which has been dubbed by historians
as one of the most dramatic wars in both British and Zulu history. The war
began in January 1879 when Sir Henry Bartle Frere provoked the Zulu King
under the misguided belief that the Zulu warriors would be easily defeated
due to only being armed with shields and spears. What resulted was one of
the worst disasters of the Colonial era with over 1300 British troops and
African allies being killed. The Zulu War Sets have been designed and
handcrafted to the highest quality to show the nature of the intense
fighting during the Zulu war.
